States With The Most RV Parks

States With The Most RV Parks

There ain’t nothing like traveling in a RV to see the sights and breathe the fresh air. You can go wherever you please, and stay as long as you like, without spending a fortune on hotels and trains. But maybe you’re wondering which states have the most RV parks for you to park your wagon and rest your bones. Well, that’s a mighty good question, and we’re here to answer it for you. In this article, we’ll tell you the top 10 states with the most RV parks, according to the latest figures from RV Park Reviews. We’ll also let you in on some of the perks and attractions of RVing in each state, as well as some tips and tricks to make your RV travel easier and more fun.

Before I done some digging on this matter, I would have bet my last dollar that Florida was the state with the most RV parks, on account of its warm weather and fine places to visit, and being the home of them full-time RV folks that can’t stand the cold. Or maybe California, with all its splendid sights and wonders. But I was wrong as a mule, for the state with the most RV parks is Texas, with a whopping 1400 (approximately) (According to the US Economic Census). That’s way more than the number of RV parks in Florida, which has 1169, and a bit more than California, which has about 1000. Now I reckon there are some seasoned RVers out there that knew Texas was the biggest, and good for them, but if you were to ask the common folk on the street, that is what they would tell you.

Although, you have to take these research numbers with a grain of salt for example, Florida has over 175 state parks but only 53 has RV hook-ups. In the private sector there are over 900 but that’s RV parks and campsites. So 1000 RV parks? Depending on your definition of an RV park and how you count them.

Table of Contents:

Strategic Packing for Your RV Adventure

Packing for an RV adventure is more than just throwing things into a suitcase. It requires strategic planning and organization to ensure you have everything you need without overloading your vehicle. For first-time RVers, this planning and packing process is especially vital.

Importance of Even Distribution of Heavy Items in Your RV

The way you pack can significantly impact how your RV handles on the road. Heavier items should be placed low and centered between the axles to maintain balance, improve stability, and reduce swaying while driving. Avoid packing heavy items high or at either end of your RV as this could lead to instability.

Secure Storage Options for Essential Travel Documents

In addition to packing gear and supplies, remember that important documents such as passports, driver’s licenses, insurance papers, and campground reservation confirmations are also essential parts of any trip. These documents should be stored securely yet easily accessible during travel times. A good option would be using a dedicated folder or envelope kept in a secure but reachable location within the camper van.

Consider Weight Limits and Create a Checklist

It’s important to consider weight limits when packing your RV. Overloading your vehicle can lead to safety hazards and damage to your RV. Develop a list of must-haves to remain orderly and guarantee nothing important is overlooked.

Additional Tips for a Smooth and Stress-Free Journey

  • Use packing cubes or storage containers to keep items organized and easily accessible.
  • Bring versatile clothing items that can be worn in different weather conditions.
  • Include a first aid set and some type of emergency supplies in your luggage.
  • Research your destination and plan your route ahead of time.
  • Consider investing in RV-specific GPS navigation to avoid low bridges and narrow roads.

By following these tips, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable RV adventure without any packing mishaps. Happy travels.

Key Takeaway: This section provides tips and strategies for first-time RV campers to pack their vehicles strategically, including the importance of even distribution of heavy items, secure storage options for essential travel documents, weight limits consideration, and additional tips such as using packing cubes or containers and investing in an RV-specific GPS navigation.

Lighting Essentials for Your First Camping Trip

Proper lighting is crucial for any camping trip, especially if you’re a first-time RV adventurer. The right light sources can make your outdoor experience safer and more enjoyable, both inside and outside the RV.

Choosing the Right Flashlight or Lantern for Camping Trips

When selecting a flashlight or lantern, consider factors such as brightness levels, battery life, durability, and size. A top-notch LED torch with adjustable light intensities is a great pick as it can offer enduring brightness while economizing on energy. For larger spaces like campgrounds or inside your RV, a rechargeable lantern offers broader light coverage.

Advantages of Using Headlamps During Outdoor Adventures

Headlamps are a must-have item on your packing list. They provide hands-free lighting, which is beneficial when setting up tents at dusk or navigating trails after dark. One highly recommended headlamp among experienced campers is the Black Diamond Spot Headlamp, known for its impressive visibility range and comfortability even after hours of use.

Besides these primary sources of light, having additional options like string lights can create a warm ambiance around your campsite without attracting too many insects. Solar-powered lights are also worth considering due to their eco-friendliness and convenience – they charge during the daytime under sunlight and automatically turn on at dusk, providing gentle illumination throughout the night.

To ensure that you never run out of power supply mid-trip, always pack extra batteries along with chargers compatible with your vehicle’s electrical system. Remember, adequate organization and preparation will not only ensure a hassle-free trip but also enable you to relish every second of your outdoor experience without worrying about minor nuisances such as lack of lighting in the dark.

Key Takeaway: This section provides tips on choosing the right lighting sources for a first-time RV camping trip. It recommends packing high-quality LED flashlights and rechargeable lanterns, as well as headlamps for hands-free lighting. Additional options like string lights and solar-powered lights can also create a warm ambiance around your campsite, but it’s important to pack extra batteries and chargers to ensure you never run out of power supply mid-trip.

Ensuring Sufficient Water Supply

An adequate water supply is a must-have for any RV trip. Don’t let your RV journey be marred by a lack of water for drinking, cooking, or washing up. That would be a disaster.

How much water should you carry on your trip?

A person’s H2O requirement is contingent on the amount of people in their party, duration of journey and if refilling water is available. As a guide, each individual should allocate at least one gal (4 liters) of H2O daily for drinking. You’ll need more for other uses like washing dishes or taking a shower.

Pro tip: Use biodegradable soap for dishwashing and take quick showers to conserve water.

Benefits of installing a dedicated showerhead in your camper van

Investing in a good quality RV-specific showerhead can make your trip more comfortable. These showerheads have adjustable spray patterns and flow control options that save water compared to traditional household models.

Highly-rated RV showerheads, like those from Oxygenics or Camco EVO Premium Water Filter Kit, offer superior performance without wasting too much freshwater. Installing these showerheads is simple and requires minimal tools, so even if you’re not a DIY expert, you can quickly get your new fixture up and running.

In conclusion, remember that preparation is key to a smooth and stress-free journey. Ensuring a sufficient water supply is a vital part of a successful camping experience. So, make sure to factor it into your overall packing list before hitting the road on your next adventure.

Health Essentials for Your Next Camping Trip

Ready to hit the road in your RV? Don’t forget to pack a comprehensive first aid kit. It’s essential to be equipped with the necessary supplies in case of any medical emergencies while on your camping journey.

What to Include in Your First Aid Kit

  • Bandages and Dressings: Cover wounds and prevent infection with adhesive bandages, sterile gauze pads, and adhesive tape.
  • Cleaning Supplies: Clean out cuts and scrapes with antiseptic wipes or hydrogen peroxide.
  • Pain Relievers: Manage discomfort from minor injuries with over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
  • Allergy Medication: Pack appropriate medication for known allergies, and don’t forget an EpiPen for severe allergic reactions.
  • Tweezers & Scissors: Remove splinters with tweezers and cut tape or clothing if needed with scissors.

Don’t forget to pack prescription medications and copies of prescriptions, just in case they need refilling during the trip. The CDC also recommends packing sunblock lotion (SPF 15+), insect repellent containing DEET, lip balm with SPF rating, and rehydration salts for hot weather conditions. And don’t forget to pack some multivitamins to keep everyone feeling their best throughout the journey.

Be sure to brush up on your CPR skills before you embark, as this knowledge could prove invaluable in an emergency. The American Red Cross offers free training courses online, so there’s no excuse not to be prepared. Remember, preparation is key to ensuring a safe and enjoyable camping experience.

Kitchen Supplies Checklist

Embarking on an RV adventure is thrilling, but planning is key. One area to focus on is your kitchen supplies. A well-equipped RV kitchen makes meal prep easier and more enjoyable.

Sleeping Bags: While not a kitchen item, sleeping bags are essential for any camping trip. They provide comfort during rest periods and ensure you’re ready for the next day’s adventures.

Fridge Cooling Fan: An RV fridge cooling fan helps maintain optimal temperatures in your refrigerator, ensuring perishables stay fresh longer. This small device significantly improves the efficiency of your RV fridge.

Cast Iron Skillet: A cast iron skillet is versatile cookware that should be part of every camper’s kitchen arsenal. It’s perfect for everything from frying eggs to cooking steaks over an open fire.

Camp Stove: If you plan to do some outdoor cooking, then a portable camp stove like the Jetboil Flash Cooking System, which offers fast boiling times and fuel efficiency, will come in handy. Remember to pack enough propane or other suitable fuel sources.

The Importance of Proper Kitchen Organization in Your RV

  • Adequate Storage: Ensure there’s sufficient storage space for all utensils, food items, and cleaning supplies to avoid cluttering up limited counter spaces.
  • Dedicated Zones: Assign specific zones within the kitchen area where certain activities take place, such as prepping meals or washing dishes.

Maintaining Cleanliness in the Kitchen Area

  1. Cleaning As You Go: To prevent messes from piling up after each mealtime, clean up immediately after eating.
  2. Routine Deep Cleaning: Regularly deep-clean appliances, surfaces, etcetera, helps maintain hygiene standards while preventing unpleasant odors from building up over time.

Remember, packing right makes living out of your mobile home away from home much smoother.

Key Takeaway: This section provides a checklist for first-time RV campers on essential kitchen supplies, including sleeping bags and a fridge cooling fan. It also emphasizes the importance of proper organization and cleanliness in the RV kitchen area to make meal prep easier and more enjoyable. Remember to pack right for a smoother mobile home away from home experience.

Traveling with Children & Pets

However, traveling with kids and pets requires extra planning to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety.

Preparing for Your Child’s Needs

Kids have specific needs that must be catered to during long trips. This includes packing appropriate clothing for various weather conditions you might encounter on your journey. Don’t forget about entertainment – bring along their favorite toys or educational apps to keep them occupied.

  • Clothing: Pack enough clothes for the trip and expected weather conditions.
  • Toys: Bring their favorite toys or games for entertainment and comfort.
  • Educational Apps: Keep kids learning while having fun.

Pet Essentials Checklist

Ensure your pet is provided for by including necessary items in their travel kit. Pack food, treats, and a comfortable bed. Check out resources like the American Kennel Club’s guide on traveling with dogs in an RV.

  • Pet Food & Treats: Bring their regular diet plus some treats.
  • Dog Beds: Ensure good rest after a day full of adventures outdoors.

Remember, preparation is key. Ensure everyone’s needs are met for a smooth and enjoyable journey. Camping is supposed to be fun, so take the time to plan accordingly and create memorable experiences together on the open road.

Meal Planning On The Road

RV camping offers freedom, even in meal planning. Prepare ahead of time to savor delectable dishes while traveling without expending too much effort in the kitchen.

Invest in quality equipment to make cooking easier and more enjoyable. For instance, Yeti’s Roadie Cooler has impressive insulation, perfect for storing perishables. An Einova Powerbank allows charging three devices simultaneously, keeping electronics powered up even while off-grid.

If you’re into grilling or open fire cooking, a Solo Stove Ranger fits most RVs without taking up much room.

Cooking after dark? No problem. The Black Diamond Spot Headlamp ensures visibility, making tasks easier to accomplish whether setting up a tent or navigating around the campground late at night.

Prioritize Bedding Arrangements Before Departure

Make bedding arrangements ahead of time to simplify setup upon arrival. Collapsible containers, cups, mixing bowls, and a drying rack provide practical solutions for managing limited spaces effectively within your camper van. Roasting sticks and pie irons are necessary equipment depending on the number of passengers aboard. Wheel chocks prevent the trailer from moving unintentionally when parked, enhancing overall safety measures during camping trips. Lastly, a cleaning caddy helps maintain cleanliness and organization, enabling fast clean-ups whenever required. In sum, successful planning requires careful consideration of each passenger’s needs, including furry friends, ensuring everyone enjoys a memorable time in nature. Remember, preparation is key to a smooth, stress-free journey.

Considerations When Choosing Your Site

If you’re planning a trip to Gotta Getaway RV Park, you’ll need to decide where you want to park your RV. Here are some factors to consider:

Factors affecting site location

  • Natural Shade: Trees provide natural shade, which can be a lifesaver during hot summer months. If you want to stay cool, make sure to request a spot with ample tree coverage when making your reservation.
  • Proximity To Amenities: Depending on what you’re interested in, you might want to choose a site that’s close to the playground, catch-and-release pond, or other attractions.
  • Noise Levels: Some areas of the park are noisier than others due to their proximity to main facilities like the pool and game room. If you’re easily disturbed by sound, it may be best to select a calmer area.

Weighing up your own inclinations and requirements is the ultimate way to decide where you should stay. Take the time to think through these considerations beforehand to ensure you get the most out of your visit to Gotta Getaway RV Park.

Quiet Nights Amidst Busy Days

If you’re someone who loves the hustle and bustle of daytime activities but also craves serene nights, then Gotta Getaway RV Park is the perfect place for you. Despite being a family-friendly park with plenty going on during the day, it transforms into a peaceful haven as dusk falls.

The park has implemented quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am, which are strictly enforced. This ensures that all campers can enjoy their much-needed rest after an adventurous day spent exploring or participating in different recreational opportunities provided here.

Imagine this: After spending your day fishing at the catch-and-release pond, playing horseshoes, or swimming in the pool, you retreat back to your site. You light up a bonfire under starlit skies and share stories with your loved ones while roasting marshmallows over open flames. As night deepens, everything around quiets down except for occasional sounds of nature – crickets chirping and leaves rustling in the gentle breeze.

This tranquility extends throughout the entire property, making it the perfect spot to unwind and relax without the distractions of typical city life, like traffic noise and bright lights. Instead, they are replaced by the soft glow of moonlight and soothing sounds of the surrounding wilderness, adding to the overall camping experience and making it truly memorable.

Apart from offering peace and quiet during nighttime, Gotta Getaway RV Park also takes pride in maintaining a dark sky policy to reduce light pollution and allow guests a better view of the stars and constellations above. This is something that is often overlooked in urban settings due to excessive artificial lighting present there, so don’t forget to pack a telescope to take advantage of the clear Ohio nights.

Tips For A Peaceful Night’s Sleep At The Campground

  • Pack earplugs: While the campground does its best to maintain silence during designated quiet hours, sometimes unavoidable noises might occur, such as early riser neighbors or children waking up at dawn. Having a pair handy will help ensure uninterrupted sleep.
  • Insect repellent: Nothing ruins a good night’s sleep faster than pesky mosquitoes buzzing around your ears. Bring something to guard against mosquitoes, especially if you’ll be out of your tent or RV in the evening when they’re most active.
  • Create a cozy sleeping environment: Whether you’re using a traditional tent or a modern RV, comfortable bedding is essential for getting quality rest to prepare for the next day’s adventures. Therefore, invest in good quality sleeping bags, pillows, and extra blankets for colder nights to ensure maximum comfort possible while away from the comforts of your own bed.
Key Takeaway: Gotta Getaway RV Park is a family-friendly park that offers peaceful nights and exciting daytime activities. The park enforces quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am, allowing campers to rest after their adventures. It’s important to pack earplugs, insect repellent, and create a cozy sleeping environment for maximum comfort while camping.

Potential Challenges Faced At The Campground

Every camping experience has its own unique set of challenges, and Gotta Getaway RV Park is no exception. However, being prepared can help you turn these potential hurdles into minor inconveniences.

Muddy Conditions

One challenge that some campers have reported at this park is the occasional muddy conditions after heavy rains. While nature’s unpredictability adds to the thrill of outdoor adventures, it can also cause a bit of discomfort if not anticipated. It’s always a good idea to check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly – rain boots and waterproof gear could come in handy.

No Wi-Fi

Besides unpredictable weather conditions, another point worth noting for tech-savvy travelers is the absence of Wi-Fi service across the entire property. For the digitally inclined, this could be a major issue to consider.

  • No Wi-Fi: If staying connected during your stay is important for you or any member of your group (maybe someone needs to catch up on work emails or kids want their daily dose of Netflix), then lack of internet access might be something you need to consider when planning your visit here. You may want to look into portable hotspots, which are great alternatives in such situations.
  • Digital Detox: On the other hand, many people see camping as an opportunity for a digital detox – unplugging from technology completely and immersing themselves fully into the natural environment surrounding them instead. If that sounds appealing, then Gotta Getaway RV Park offers just what you need.

In spite of these minor drawbacks, the majority of users seemed extremely satisfied with their stay, praising the cleanliness of facilities, well-maintained grounds, and the fact that there are plenty of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained throughout the duration of their visit. In particular, the ice-cold temperature pool, despite the wood burner heating system (not in use), was a hit. The only negative aspect pointed out in otherwise positive feedback received regarding amenities.

Key Takeaway: Gotta Getaway RV Park has potential challenges such as muddy conditions and no Wi-Fi, but being prepared can help turn these into minor inconveniences. Tech-savvy travelers may need to consider alternative options for internet access, while others may see camping as an opportunity for a digital detox. Despite the lack of heating in the pool, users were extremely satisfied with their stay at the park due to its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities.

Cleanliness and Maintenance of Facilities

One of the standout features of Gotta Getaway RV Park is its cleanliness and maintenance. The staff takes pride in keeping the grounds tidy, ensuring a pleasant environment for all campers.

Well-Maintained Amenities

The restrooms, showers, and laundry room are regularly cleaned to maintain high hygiene standards. Visitors have also appreciated the well-maintained playground area where kids can safely enjoy outdoor activities.

The swimming pool is another highlight, with guests finding the temperature refreshingly cool on hot summer days. However, some reviewers did point out that the water could be too chilly during colder weather conditions.

Gotta Getaway RV Park does an excellent job at maintaining its infrastructure. Whether it’s fixing wear-and-tear promptly or ensuring all electrical hookups are working perfectly, they’ve got it covered.

Minor Issues

However, after heavy rains, there could be muddy patches around certain areas within the campground that might require extra care while navigating through them. Though Wi-Fi is not available across the entire property, these minor issues are overshadowed by the satisfaction of visitors with clean facilities and entertaining activities.

Despite a few minor grievances, the majority of campers appear highly content with their stay, lauding the tidiness of amenities and neatly-maintained grounds. There is plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained throughout the duration of their visit.

Overall, maintenance is key to a great camping experience, and Gotta Getaway RV Park does an excellent job of providing just that.
